This is the main boat ramp
in town located on Richardson street about 1 minute from the
town centre. This two lane concrete public ramp is ideal for
launching anything from a 10ft tinny to a 35ft Shark Cat and
more. The ramp is well lit so launching at night is possible
and the carpark is big enough to park hundreds of cars/trailers.
On the average weekend you will see twenty to fourty cars with
trailers but on big weekends when fishing is red hot or a competition is on you can see up to fifty. Launching is possible at all tides
but the lowest of lows will see you wading ankle deep in mud.The
rock shelf you can see on either side of the approach once spanned
all the way to the opposite side of the harbour and at low tide
you could walk all the way across. The harbour was dredged to
and is maintained at a depth of 14 metres or 46 feet. Local boating
rules and fish regulations and bag limits are displayed on signs
at the ramp.
