Surf Rig

This is a typical rig for Tailor, Mulloway and Salmon on surf beaches in Western Australia.
With an Alvey sidecast reel you should always use an additional barrel swivel or box swivel above the rig to prevent line twist. The length of the leader and the sinker size should be adjusted to suit the prevailing conditions i.e. current, swell, turbulence.

The leader should be long enough to allow the bait to move around freely but not so long that it becomes tangled or is awkward to cast. The sinker size should be sufficient to hold the bottom.
